BS 5540-7 – Evaluating particulate contamination of hydraulic fluids. Method of determining the level of contamination (by the gravimetric method)

Method whereby the amount of solid contaminant in a sample of hydraulic fluid can be determined. The principle involves filtering a known volume of the sample under vacuum conditions through a membrane filter. The increase in mass of the filter represents the solid impurity content.
